In 2023, the BSA announced changes to the registration and re-chartering process. As of Fall 2024, Scouts must renew their registration ONLINE directly with Scouting America on an annual basis. Please note: the local Pack still plans and manages our budget on an academic calendar year. Your local dues are not included in online registration and must be paid to the Pack directly each school year by check or cash.
Starting 2 months before your anniversary date, you will begin receiving emails from "Boy Scouts of America" regarding your membership renewal. For Scouts who joined prior to 2023, your anniversary date is 12/31. You are eligible to renew starting on November 1st. All other Scouts, your anniversary date is the date that you first registered at my.scouting.org. Please be on the lookout for the emails from Scouting America; the only way to re-register your Scout is online. Paper applications are no longer accepted.
Please follow the instructions in the email. If you do not receive an email, you may still renew your Scout's membership by following these steps. Scouting America has provided this guide that includes screenshots. You may also reference this video!
Please note that as of Fall 2024, re-registration could not be completed on a phone. Other tips:
The preferred browser is Google Chrome
It is best to clear your browser history (cache) before logging in (or use incognito mode)
Go to my.scouting.org
Use the same user name and password that you used to register your Scout. Can't remember? Follow the prompts to reset! Please do not create a new account or you will not be tied to your Scout in the Scouting America system.
Your Scout's membership is tied to the email address you used when you first registered! If you are encountering technical difficulties, please reach out to the Spirit of Adventure Council at membership@scoutingboston.org.
After ensuring that your Scouting America membership is current, you may renew with the Pack.
You may log in to my.scouting.org at any time and check your Scout's status. Click on the menu at the top left-hand side of the screen and select "My Account." This is the same website where you will log in to take any training or check your YPT status!
Your account will show the status of adults on the account and youth members. The expiration date is listed as is the current status. If you are showing up as "Active Renewal", your membership is current. You will begin receiving renewal reminders 2 months before the date listed in the center.
If for some reason you decide that you or your Scout will not continue Scouting, you may opt out of renewing. This will prevent automated registration reminder emails from being sent to you. However, if this is selected in error, the Pack cannot correct it and you must contact our council - the Spirit of Adventure.
If your Scout is a 5th grader who will move from Cub Scouts into a Scouting America Troop, please do not re-register as a new member with the Troop. We will transfer your Scout to their Troop of choice and their membership (along with the paid remainder of the registered calendar year) will follow them to the new unit.
We can do the same if your Scout wishes to transfer to a different Cub Scout Pack! Scouting is such an important part of youth character development - we encourage you to continue Scouting in any unit, even if it is not with us!
Registration for each Scouting season requires:
Turn in Medical Forms Parts A & B to the Pack by September 30th. This paperwork is required for your first overnight event of the season or Cubmobile (whichever comes first). Parts A & B do not require a doctor's signature; however, there is an immunization history requested. The only required immunization is a current tetanus shot! Please print front/back and bring us 2 hard copies. You must re-submit each new season (school year). Again, this is required before a Scout may participate in any overnight excursions or Cubmobile.
Pay Pack 100 Dues of $50 (no change in 4+ years) directly to the Pack. This fee covers core Pack 100 costs (e.g., awards, Pinewood Derby Kits and Cubmobile).
Note: siblings that are brand-new to Scouting will need to register online through the BSA as new members before they will appear on the Pack 100 roster. Please follow the directions on the How to Join page.
The preferred method to pay dues to the Pack is by personal check payable to "Westford Pack 100" to our treasurer at a Pack meeting. Please include the names of all Scouts for whom you are paying dues on the memo line of your personal check.
Renew with Scouting America online BEFORE your membership expires. The registration window opens 60 days prior to the anniversary of your registration.
Pay National and Council dues online; please notify the Pack if this presents a financial hardship as scholarships may be available.
Thank you!
