Bare Minimum - Buy at Scout Store:

  1. Shirt - buy it big, so it will fit him for a while.  Example: maybe a "Youth Medium" size for Tiger.  The blue shirts are typically worn until the end of Bear Rank (3rd year / 3rd grade), although they can be worn all the way until the end.  Most people buy the tan shirts for Webelos I and II.
  2. Neckerchief & Slide: Get the one for your rank (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos)
  3. Belt - This is used to put the academic & sports belt loops on that he will earn as we go. Just get the regular scouting belt rather than the Tiger-specific belt.
  4. World Scouting Patch - the round purple one; the people at the Scout Store will know what it is.
  5. Spirit of Adventure Council Patch  Typically only able to find these at a true Scout Store like in Lancaster, MA, and maybe the one in Woburn, MA.
  6. Den number shoulder patch
  7. Rank-specific Book (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos)- You will need this for this year to know what activities to do.  It also has details inside of where to put all the patches on the uniforms.

Get later at next meeting:

  1. "100" number patch - Our Asst Cubmaster has the nice all-in-one "100" patches for ~$5, and generally brings them to the Pack Meetings.  The all-in-one patches are much better than buying three separate "1" "0" "0" patches.  The Scout Store does not have these.
  2. Pack 100 T-shirts:  These are used for less formal den hikes, and such. See your den leader and advise me of your son's size so we can ask the keeper of the shirts to bring one to the next pack meeting.

Other items to consider getting at the Scout Store:

  1. Badge Magic - it is badge "glue" that helps stick the badges on the shirt without having to sew - Get at Scout Store
  2. Hat - This is optional, but many kids like having the hats.
  3. Extra Neckerchief Slides - Kids often lose the slides.  Having an extra on hand can be good.

Contact the Pack if you have any more questions.
