Pack 100 Racers -

Here is the schedule for Saturday's weigh in and races.  Both weigh-in and races will be held in the Abbot cafeteria.

9:00 AM - 10: 30 AM - Weigh-In / Impound

1:00 PM - Races Start.
All Scouts should be dressed in Class A for races.

I know the split schedule may not be ideal for everyone but running this race is a logistical challenge.  There is quite a bit of set up that needs to be done before weigh-in and a lot of work between weigh-in and races.  We hope that the time between the 2 events will give the kids (and parents too) time to go home, eat a good lunch and get recharged for race time.

A few quick reminders -

For weigh in -
► Casual clothing acceptable. No uniform required.
► Bring Your completed car, fully ready to race; it will be impounded after weigh-in.
► Supplies & tools to for last minute modifications (e.g.extra weights, drill, sandpaper, quick drying glue, graphite, etc).

For race time -
► Wear Class A Uniform (Portraits of Scout with Car will be taken)
► Bring Cameras
► Bring Personal Snacks, Drinks, etc.  We will have water and snacks to purchase.
► Bring Family: Everyone is invited (siblings, grandparents, etc).

We will have a bin to collect gently used toys, puzzles and games for BOTH boys and girls.  These items will be raffled off at our Blue and Gold dinner in March.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Pack 100 Racing Committee

Pack 100 Racers,

Our Pinewood Derby Race will be held on the first weekend in January 2014.  You and your Scouts will likely want to start building your cars very soon.  Please read the following:

Car Kits:

We handed out the car kits at the November pack meeting.  If you have not received yours, please contact your den leader.

The official Pack 100 Rules can be found at

You must build your car according to these rules.  These Pack 100 Pinewood Derby (PWD) Rules are compiled from all West Wind District PWD rules published since 2009. If your Scout’s car is a top finisher in our Pack 100 race, then your Scout will be able to race his car in the West Wind District PWD in March. Having our rules follow the West Wind District rules ensures that no Scout will be disqualified at the District race due to differences between rule sets. We usually get the opportunity to send up to 15 Scouts from Pack 100 to the District Finals.

Important Reminders:

All cars will need a name.  Please start thinking of a name!

Speed trophies will be awarded to the 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place finishers.  Also, First place of each rank will be awarded a trophy.

But if speed isn't your thing, Go for the Design Competition.  The TOP 3 Best Designs will get a trophy.

Although this is a competitive event by nature,  we have trophies for everyone! Every scout should simply Do Their Best and Have Fun. If you're unsure how to make your car faster, turn to Youtube for great building tips or if you need tools, ask your den mates and see how they do it.  It's a good excuse to get together over the vacation.

Car Names and Numbers
Come up with a fun name for your car and please email it to your den leader who will forward it in.  Car names are due December 28th.

Car numbers are available from your den leader.  Incorporating the number into the design is optional.

Blue and Gold Raffle Items
On a separate note - we are collecting gently used, re-giftable toys, games, puzzles for boys AND girls for our Blue & Gold raffle in March.  Please bring any raffle items to the weigh-in or on race day.
