Phillips Academy Observatory - CANCELLED for Feb 8

posted Dec 19, 2013, 9:41 PM by Brice Center   [ updated Feb 8, 2014, 10:19 AM ]
CANCELLED

Both observatory sessions are cancelled for tonight, Feb 8th, due to heavy cloud cover.

We will look at reschedule dates.  Hopefully we can go in the next couple of weeks.  I'll be sending further emails in the near future.

I know.  Bummer.  Even though it looks clear right now, there is a front coming through with heavy cloud cover right during our event tonight.

The cloud cover map during our event shows us covered in white (see here).

What we'll do:

► We will use Phillips Academy's 16 inch optical telescope to look at the Moon, Jupiter, and the Orion Nebula.

► We will receive a demonstration of the computer controller that automates the telescope.

► Some Phillips Academy students will explain how they use the telescopes in their research, etc.
